Due to a heavy interest from adults for a filmmaking workshop we have decided to merge the two Rangatahi Filmmaking Workshops into one day!

The AMFF Rangatahi Filmmaking Workshop (an Indigenous Youth Filmmaking Workshop) is the perfect way to introduce your tamariki (children) to the world of filmmaking, ignite their creativity and teach them a new storytelling technique. This year we’re hosting a one-day workshop that encompass exciting teaching techniques to keep them entertained and engaged for Rangatahi aged 9-15 years old.

Tamariki will learn basic camera framing and movement techniques to create their own short film in an interview setting. Selected whakatauki (Maori proverbial sayings) will be the theme to the Rangatahi short films. All Rangatahi will have the opportunity to operate the camera, act and direct.

The Workshops are on during screenings of The Aotearoa Maori Film Festival, so parents can enjoy the screening in peace. Parents are invited back to watch a screening of the Rangatahi short films and the prize giving in a ‘Red Carpet Event’.
