In conjunction with the 2014 Aotearoa Maori Film Festival we offered a one off intensive digital film making workshop for tamariki ages 6-15. It was held during the AMFF 2014 matinee screening from 1-4pm on August 22nd at the Hurstville Civic Centre, allowing parents to enjoy the AMFF screening in peace.
The aim of the workshop was to excite children about film making and to demonstrate the medium as a great tool for story telling. The students learnt the basics of camera shots and camera movement techniques and put their new knowledge into action using the iPad. Through a few selected whakatauki, students were guided in creating their own 30-60 second short trailer. The films were then shown on the big screen where their parents were invited back to watch. The shorts were then uploaded to the Aotearoa Maori Film Festival YouTube channel for whanau and friends to watch. Check them out below:
